IRAN’S involvement in the Middle East crisis emerged last night after four of its soldiers were killed fighting Israel in Lebanon.

The elite Revolutionary Guards’ bodies were ferried in secret from the frontline.

It was damning evidence Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is deeply involved in pulling the strings in Hezbollah’s war with Israel.

A Lebanese security source said: “It’s the clearest indication yet that Iran is fighting a proxy war against Israel. As any hard evidence of it happening would be potentially explosive for the whole region, it’s no wonder such care is being taken to ship out the Iranian dead in secret.”

Israeli and Egyptian security officials later confirmed reports the four dead had been transported to Syria, then flown to Iranian capital Tehran.

There are believed to be up to 100 Iranians fighting covertly alongside Hezbollah guerillas — with Iranian technicians helping fanatics fire rockets across the border.

Just days ago The Sun revealed teams of Iranian suicide bombers were heading into Lebanon’s war zone.
