Women lack the intellectual capacity and understanding to stand as candidates in the [presidential”> elections, and for this reason they were disapproved en mass, the non-cleric GC member said.
The Guardian Council, Irans hard-line watchdog is comprised of six senior clerics and six judicial experts who are hand-picked by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The GC members statement has aroused much discontent among women in Iran.
