Tehran, Iran, Jul. 13 – At least 18 people were killed on Friday when a truck and a passenger bus collided head-on near the northern Iranian city of Semnan.

Another 24 people were injured in the crash, which was as a result of the truck driver swerving into the lane of incoming traffic, state television reported.

Iran’s highways are considered to be among the most dangerous in the world, with some 100,000 road-accident deaths occurring in the last five years, the equivalent of three deaths an hour.
