Tehran, Iran, Sep. 21 – The former Commandant of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Friday that there was a “serious” possibility that U.S. President George W. Bush be prosecuted for “war crimes” in Iraq.

“Currently, there is talk of Bush being prosecuted by the American people in front of the White House. This talk is serious. Bush would be introduced as a war criminal”, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said. His remarks were reported by the state-run news agency ISNA.

General Safavi stepped down as Commandant of the IRGC earlier this month after ten years in that post. He is currently the Supreme Armed Forces Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
