Tehran, Feb. 17 – A fire set ablaze stalls in the Goldsmiths Bazaar in Tehran this morning after a spontaneous gas explosion.

Eye-witnesses reported that a gas capsule exploded in one of the side roads of the bazaar.

No fatalities or serious injuries were reported, but according to merchants, the fire left 100 million rials ($10,000) in damages in two of the stalls.

The cause of the canister blast is unknown.

There are fire safety concerns in Iran’s capital following a fatal fire earlier this week at Tehran’s Ark mosque, packed with worshippers, that left at least 61 dead and nearly 300 injured.

Survivors of the mosque fire accused authorities in Tehran of responding too slowly to save many of the victims.
