ImageTehran, Iran, Nov. 25 – Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Wednesday emphasised that US policy under President Barack Obama has had no material change towards Iran to the previous Bush administration, state media reported.

"Sometimes lack of knowledge makes us think that certainly a group will have a better performance than the other one and that is while the US regime has clearly announced that Iran is a member of the axis of evil … the US literature may have changed but we should ask ourselves what have they done during this period", the state-run news agency Fars quoted Larijani as saying during a speech at a Tehran conference on civil defence.

Earlier this month Iran's Supreme Leader emphasised that Iran will not be negotiating with the Obama administration over Tehran's nuclear program.  "As long as the US administration maintains its arrogant spirit and threats, the Iranian nation will not be deceived by the fake conciliatory face of the US administration and will not give up its independence, freedom, national interests and rights at all", he said.

As Tehran intensifies its rhetoric over nuclear negotiations, any prospect of overtures from the Obama administration calming the current nuclear stand-off seem unlikely at best.
