ImageTehran, Iran, Dec. 01 – A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has stressed Iran’s capacity and clout in defending its territorial waters, state media reported.

"The IRGC defends the country's water borders decisively and powerfully … relying on the capability and abilities of our faithful human resources who harbor belief in the sacred causes of the Islamic Revolution, and utilising the latest combat and defensive equipments, we have reached a reliable point today", the state-run news agency Fars quoted Lieutenant Commander of the IRGC Naval Forces Brigadier General Ali Fadavi as saying on Tuesday.

"We have employed the necessary means for maritime confrontation and amphibious combat under different situations through utilising modern warfare tactics", Fadavi added.

These latest comments from the IRGC come at a time of confrontation with the British authorities following the arrest by Iranian forces of five British sailors.
