ImageLONDON, February 13, 2010 (AFP) – Up to 1,000 supporters of Iran's exiled opposition took to the streets of London on Saturday to demand regime change in Tehran on the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution, organisers said.

The protest, organised by the exiled National Council of Resistance of Iran, was held in solidarity with opposition demonstrations in Tehran marking Thursday's anniversary of the 1979 Islamic revolution which toppled the Shah.

On the square outside the Houses of Parliament in central London, the crowd — which included British lawmakers — held up Iranian flags and urged Britain to sever ties with the government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
