Tehran – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi warned here Sunday the next meeting requested by the EU3 will be the last chance for the Europeans.

“Iran will negotiate with the Europeans once more upon their request,” he told domestic and foreign reporters at his weekly press conference.

He stressed Iran is determined to resume some enrichment-related activities.

“We were to start the activities this week, but we decided to hold another round of talks with Europe following requests by the Europeans and other states including Spain, Japan, South Africa, Malaysia, Russia and the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

“Iran’s proposals to the Europeans were completely transparent, but the Europeans misunderstood them and we found negotiations fruitless.

“So, Iran’s chief negotiator Sirous Nasseri paid a visit to Vienna and submitted a letter to head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), announcing the commencement of some enrichment-related activities in Isfahan.”

The spokesman stresses, “We will not give up our rights and will observe international regulations on fuel cycle in our activities. We have resorted to negotiations to achieve our rights.”

Asked about threats of the Europeans and British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Iran’s referral to the UN Security Council, the senior official said even if the dossier is taken to the UNSC, the US and Europe will sustain more damages than Iran.

“The Islamic Republic will not give in to threats and the Europeans know it very well.”
