MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The mother of one of two Americans still jailed in Iran says the men have a Nov. 6 trial date, and their families hope that means a release soon after.

Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal (fuh-TAHL’) remain in a Tehran prison more than a month after Bauer’s fiance, Sarah Shourd, was released and returned to the U.S.

Bauer’s mother, Cindy Hickey of Pine City, Minn., said Tuesday the families learned of the trial date from their lawyer around the same time Shourd was released.

Hickey says the families have few other details. They don’t know whether Bauer and Fattal will be tried together or separately on Iran’s accusation of illegally crossing its border and spying.

Hickey says the lawyer will argue any border crossing was accidental while the three were hiking in northern Iraq in July 2009.
