TEHRAN – Two small devices hidden in rubbish bins exploded in the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan on Monday, causing no casualties, police said.
They said the first explosion damaged some cars and broke windows, while there was no damage from the second.
The blasts in Zahedan, in a province bordering Pakistan, occurred a day after nine people were killed and more than 70 wounded in a string of bombings in Tehran and the southwestern oil city of Ahvaz.
There was no word on who was behind the Zahedan explosions. Iranian officials blamed Sunday’s attacks on exiled opposition groups and foreign agents trying to deter Iranians from voting in presidential elections on Friday.
