TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s influential former president has criticized world powers for their “dishonesty” in recent nuclear talks in Moscow.

Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani is associated with a centrist branch of Iran’s clerical establishment that supports the broad lines of its controversial nuclear program but is more open to compromise with the West than hardline conservatives.

But his remarks carried by the independent Iranian Shargh daily on Thursday suggest that this trend too is growing frustrated with negotiations between Tehran and six world powers. Two days of intensive nuclear talks in Moscow ended Tuesday, with both sides agreeing only to continue low-level talks in early July.

The paper quoted Rafsanjani as saying that the West is pursuing a “bullying policy” against Iran.

The West suspects Iran is pursuing nuclear weapon, a charge Tehran denies.
