The new website, provides details on the Iran-Iraq War, one of the longest in modern history, and sheds new light on the decision and the reasons to continue the conflict after Iraq withdrew its forces. PARIS, July 24, 2013 — /PRNewswire/ Today it was announced a new website called “Mullahs War” (http://www.mullahswar.com) has been launched. The new website, provides details on the Iran-Iraq War, one of the longest in modern history, and sheds new light on the decision and the reasons to continue the conflict after Iraq withdrew its forces. The web site that is affiliated to the National Council of Resistance of Iran, discusses efforts by the opposition, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) to bring an end to the conflict – a position strongly supported by the public.

The new website provides details on how Iran’s mullahs could have ended the war with Iraq 19 months after it began, but the desire to export their fundamentalism to Iraq and establish an Islamic Republic was the motive for its protraction.

The website argues that Tehran rulers also used the conflict to limit dissent and consolidate their power and as such hostilities dragged on another six years, becoming the longest conventional war in the 20th century.

The website explains in details how the PMOI rushed to the battlefield to defend the Iranian public following Iraq’s invasion of Iran in September 1980.  According to mullahswar.com after Iraq unilaterally withdrew its military forces and sued for peace, there was no reason to continue the conflict and the PMOI turned its attention to stopping the war, and promoting a Peace Plan that received widespread international support.

“Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) blames Iraq for the war’s devastation.  But the mullahs are directly to blame for hundreds of thousands of needless deaths, the destruction of whole cities and towns, and more than three million refugees,” said Hossein Abedini a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the NCRI in a press release announcing the launch of the website.

The new website offers new perspectives on some of the most important developments of recent Iranian history. As such it explains that in 1986, six years after the war began, the PMOI was forced out of France.  It relocated to Iraq, the only place available.  Abedini underscored “The Mojahedin operated independently and never collaborated with Saddam’s forces, which were deployed defensively and did not seek to conquer Iranian territory.” He emphasized, “only after the Mojahedin’s successful military campaigns against Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on Iranian territory did the mullahs fear for their future and finally accept a ceasefire in 1988.”

According to Abedini: “The MOIS falsely alleges the Mojahedin is unpopular in Iran because of its participation in the war.  But this is a propaganda ploy to demonize the resistance organizations.  The Iranian public is aware of the Mojahedin’s peace initiatives to stop the unpopular war and its later liberation of Iranian cities.  Those who claim the Mojahedin do not enjoy public support because of its military incursions into Iran are merely parroting MOIS disinformation.”
