Tehran, Iran, Dec. 08 – A young Iranian woman was hanged in prison in the north-eastern town of Shirevan, a state-run daily reported on Thursday.

The unidentified woman was accused of having killed an older woman in December 2001, when she was an 18-year-old girl, the daily Khorrasan wrote.

The death sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday in front of the religious prosecutor and judge, according to the report.
