Tehran, Iran, Feb. 07 – Iran’s former President Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said in Tehran on Tuesday that the West did not want the Islamic Republic to obtain nuclear capabilities.

Rafsanjani, who currently chairs the State Expediency Council, said, “The West viciously denies us our nuclear right because they want Iran to be technologically deficient”, the official state news agency reported.

The West believes that Tehran’s nuclear program is for the development of an atomic bomb.
