WASHINGTON, March 27, 2006 (AFP) – US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will meet with French President Jacques Chirac in Paris during a European swing this week focusing on the Iranian nuclear crisis, the State Department said Monday.

Spokesman Sean McCormack confirmed that Rice would leave Wednesday for Germany, where she will attend a meeting with other UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany, and then travel to France and Britain.

“Secretary Rice’s trip to Berlin and Paris will provide an opportunity for her to continue her dialogue with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Jacques Chirac and other top officials,” McCormack said.
