Tehran, Iran, Jul. 26 – Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the government-run news agency Fars reported on Wednesday.

The subjects of the discussions were the international standoff over Tehran’s nuclear program and the crisis in Lebanon, the report said.

Tehran’s nuclear file has been hauled before the United Nations Security Council after it failed to give a positive response to a European-brokered deal aimed at diffusing the standoff.
