Tehran, Iran, Jul. 30 – Iran announced on Sunday that it would reject a package of incentives offered to it by the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany in return for it to suspend uranium enrichment if the council adopted a resolution later this week ordering Tehran to halt sensitive nuclear work.

“If tomorrow a resolution is released against the Islamic Republic, then the P5+1 package will no longer be an issue”, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi told reporters during his weekly press conference.

Tehran missed the July 11 deadline to respond positively to the nuclear package and may face further punitive actions at the Security Council.

Hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that the Islamic Republic would give its response on August 22.
