Tehran, Iran, Sep. 25 – Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sacked on Monday his Minister of Welfare and Social Security, marking the first time the radical president has ousted a cabinet member.

Parviz Kazemi was dropped from the post for “poor performance”, state media reported.

Ahmadinejad immediately named Majlis (Parliament) deputy Abdol-Reza Mesri as the replacement candidate.

Mesri will require a vote of confidence from Majlis before being appointed to the post.

The Iranian President also named Ali Youssefpour as the new caretaker of the welfare ministry.
