Baghdad, Oct. 05 – United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has arrived in Baghdad for a surprise visit, state television reported on Thursday.

Rice left Jerusalem earlier on Thursday after managing to convince the Israeli government to ease restrictions on the borders of the Gaza Strip.

On Wednesday, she met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbass as part of a tour of the Middle East.
