London, Jul. 14 – Finland’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian ambassador on Friday to protest the stoning of a man on the charge of adultery in Iran, Finnish media reported.

Teija Tiilikainen, a senior ministry official, told Reza Nazarahari that Iran had violated international human rights agreements it had signed, the Finnish news agency STT said.

On Tuesday Iran’s judiciary confirmed that Jafar Kiani had recently been stoned to death in the village of Aghche Kand near Takestan, in Qazvin province.

Tiilikainen said that Finland “strongly condemns” the stoning and urged Iran not to go through with a similar sentence on Kiani’s partner.
