Tehran, Iran, Aug. 12 – Iranian authorities in the south-eastern province of Kerman announced that they will hang a dozen individuals soon, state media reported.

“In the past four months, 178 hooligans … have been arrested. More than 80 percent of the arrests relate to the centre of the province. Twelve of these individuals are awaiting execution”, General Es’haqi, the commander of the State Security Forces in Kerman, was quoted as saying by the state-run news agency ISNA on Saturday.

Iranian officials often refer to millions of unemployed young men, who are largely beset by frustration and despair, as “trouble-makers” or “hooligans”.
