Tehran, Iran, Dec. 15 – The State Supreme Court in the central Iranian city of Isfahan upheld a death sentence for a young man and ordered two other men to be lashed in public, a state-run daily reported on Thursday.

The man sentenced to be hanged was only identified by his first name Habib and was accused of rape. Ali-Reza and Saeed, allegedly two of his accomplices, were each sentenced to 99 lashes, the daily Hamshahri wrote.

The report said that the sentences would be carried out shortly.

Separately, the semi-official daily Jomhouri Islami wrote on Thursday that three men were sentenced to be hanged in the holy city of Qom, south of Tehran, and a forth man was sentenced to prison time and 50 lashes on drug trafficking charges.
