Gothenburg, Dec. 6 – In a parliamentary conference in Stockholm last week, Swedish parliamentarians from different factions debated the growing trend of human rights violations in Iran.

A number of Swedish members of parliament called for a halt to trade ties between the European Union and the Iranian regime.

Amnesty International was present among the international human rights organizations and was harshly condemning of the Iranian regime’s record.

The conference ended with a joint statement which stated that Iran has regularly been a cause for concern for many international human rights bodies whilst emphasizing that Iran had most recently been condemned by the United Nations General Assembly’s Third Committee for flagrant disregard for basic human rights and increased systematic suppression of the general population.
