Iran Focus: Tehran, Iran, Feb. 12 – Iran’s former president Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani met and held talks with former Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari.

Tehran, Iran, Feb. 12 – Iran’s former president Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani met and held talks with former Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari.

The two men met in Tehran on Saturday, the official news agency IRNA reported.

Rafsanjani currently head’s Iran State Expediency Council (SEC).

Jaafari, who heads the Iraqi Shiite party al-Dawa, has strong ties to Iran where he was based for many years before the United States-led invasion of Iraq.
