BAGHDAD (AFP) Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left for home on Monday after ending his historic two-day Iraq trip where he called for the withdrawal of US-led foreign forces.
The president of the Islamic republic was given a red-carpet farewell attended by top Iraqi officials including Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and President Jalal Talabani.
He had arrived on Sunday for the landmark trip, the first ever by an Iranian president to Iraq which fought a bitter war against Iran war in the 1980s.
