Baghdad, Apr. 09 – Two organised gangs responsible for a number of kidnappings and violent operations are run by a branch of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps, according to information obtained by sources close to the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin.

“The two networks are each comprised of 30 individuals who take part in kidnappings and destructive operations in a number of Iraqi provinces. They are supported by the Iranian regime’s Ramazan Garrison via the Iran-Iraq border across the Iraqi province of Al-Amara”, the opposition source said.

“The networks are commanded by two men by the names of Abu Hajer and Abu Fatemeh”, the source added.

Ramazan Garrison, near the city of Kermanshah in western Iran, has for long been an operational base of the Revolutionary Guards and its elite Qods (Jerusalem) Force.

Citing information obtained from within the Iranian regime, the source said, “The agents work under the guise of splinter factions of Iraqi political parties, and attempt to destabilise the region and harass anyone opposing the Iranian regime’s influence over the country”.

“In a memo written by an Iranian Intelligence Ministry agent in Iraq to senior Iranian military officials, it was noted: ‘The Ramazan Garrison continues to be in contact with these groups, and has supplied them with weapons, money and narcotics”, it added.

The People’s Mojahedin, the main opposition group inside Iran, has provided reliable information on Iran’s clandestine activities in the past.
