News Advisory:

The Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus in the House of Representatives, co-chaired by Reps. Thomas Tancredo (R-Colo.) and Bob Filner (D-Calif.), will hold a briefing on “Iraq’s Future: The Iranian Impact” on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 in room 2255 in Rayburn House Office Building.

The Iranian regime is keen to use Iraq as a springboard to foment Islamic fundamentalism throughout the entire Middle East. There is plenty of evidence that Iran’s money, weapons and agents are fanning the flames of insurgency in Iraq. The liberation of Iran from the grip of the mullahs is an indispensable element for achieving a stable, democratic Iraq and a nuclear-free Middle East. However, freeing Iran will not require military intervention. Nor will the “appeasement policy” foster democracy in Iran. There is a “third option”; the corrupt fundamentalists in Iran can be defeated by Iranian people and their organized, democratic Resistance.
