For more than two decades, the people of Iraq have gone through immense difficulties, but they have made many achievements to be proud of.”

“My team and I will continue to work tirelessly with the authorities and civil society to ensure that as Iraq moves forward, it can rely on the impartial and honest advice, expertise and knowledge of the United Nations,” the new SRSG for Iraq added.

According to the report prior to his assignment in Iraq, Nickolay Mladenov has served as Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria from 2010 to 2013 and led his country’s diplomatic engagement with a number of partners, including in the Middle East.
