Tehran, Iran, Aug. 18 – At least five members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) were killed as their military helicopter crashed in north-west Iran, state media reported on Saturday.

The chopper went down with 11 passengers on board near the Ghandil Mountain region, close to the city of Piranshahr, due to poor weather conditions at the time of landing on Friday, the IRGC’s regional command headquarters in north-west Iran said in a statement.

Six individuals aboard the helicopter were also injured and taken to hospital, the official news agency IRNA said.

State radio later report that one of the injured had died in hospital.
