Tehran, Iran, Nov. 19 Irans Foreign Ministry has appointed a new envoy to South Korea, official media reported on Monday.
Mohammad-Reza Bakhtiari was appointed as the Islamic Republics new ambassador to Seoul, the government-owned news agency Fars said.
Bakhtiari had previously served as Tehrans top envoy to Morocco and Belgium.
As part of a purge of the Islamic Republics diplomats who did not belong to the ultra-Islamist faction, in October 2005 Ahmadinejad ordered the recalling of 40 of the countrys ambassadors, nearly half of the fleet. These included Iranian ambassadors in European countries, who were involved in Tehrans nuclear negotiations with the West.
