Tehran, Iran, Mar. 02 – The Iranian football federation on Sunday announced that the former Iranian striker Ali Daei will become the national team’s new coach, state media reported.

Ali Kaffashian, the head of Iran’s Football Federation, indicated that Daei was appointed due to his previous experience at an international level with the Iranian national team, the official news agency IRNA said.

The new appointment would seem to end an embarrassing period for the IFF whose search for a new national coach had been shrouded in confusion and uncertainty.
