ImageMIAMI (AP) — The wife of a former FBI agent believed to be missing in Iran said Friday she is offering a $5,000 reward for information on her husband, who disappeared more than a year ago.

Robert Levinson, 60, of Coral Springs, disappeared in March 2007 during a business trip to Kish Island off Iran's southern coast. The U.S. government has asked Iran about Levinson, but the Persian country said it has no information on him.

"That's why I've decided that I need to put out a reward, so people over there will become aware of this situation," Christine Levinson said. "There has to be information out there. Someone knows where he is and someone can get him home to me."

Christine Levinson said her husband has diabetes and high blood pressure, and it's possible he has had a medical checkup in Iran.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the family through the Web site, or visit the Swiss Embassy in Tehran. Swiss diplomats look after U.S. interests there because the U.S. and Iran do not have formal diplomatic relations.

Christine Levinson hopes donations through her family's Web site will allow them to increase the reward money.

"I do believe he's alive and safe somewhere in Iran," she said. She has asked for permission to travel there in July to get an update from the Iranian government, which has promised to continue helping her. She first met with officials there during a trip in December.

Earlier this month, she marked the second wedding anniversary since her husband's disappearance. The couple have seven children, ages 14 to 31.

"We miss him terribly," Christine Levinson said, "and want him home."
