ImageTehran, Iran, May 26 – At least 23 people were killed when a bus slammed into a truck on a stretch of road in western Iran, state media reported on Monday.

The accident occurred on Sunday in the province of Hamedan on the road to Tehran, the state-run news agency Fars said.

On Friday, at least 21 people were killed when a bus collided with an oncoming truck on the road from Hamedan to Malayer. Eleven other people were injured in the crash.

Iran's highways are considered to be among the most dangerous in the world, with some 100,000 road-accident deaths occurring in the last five years, the equivalent of three deaths an hour.
