Tehran, Jun. 05 – Iran plans to build a cross-country pipeline capable of transporting oil from the Caspian region to the Persian Gulf and world oil markets, state media reported.
Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister confirmed the plans, which will link the northern Neka Port to the southern port of Jask, state television said.
Hossein Nogrekar-Shirazi indicated Tuesday that the pipeline will be capable of transferring one million barrels of oil each day.
There was no indication of the timescale to complete the project.
Nogrekar-Shirazi also announced plans for "two major oil refineries along the Caspian Sea coastline to refine crude extracted from the oil-rich area".
