ImageBRASILIA, Sept 3 (Reuters) – Iran last month invited Brazil to join oil exporters' group OPEC, Energy Minister Edison Lobao said on Wednesday, adding that his government had not yet responded to the invitation.

"He came to make a formal invitation. We are still evaulating," Lobao told reporters, referring to a visit by the Iranian ambassador to Brazil he said took place two weeks ago.

Brazil shocked the oil world last year with the second-biggest oil find in 20 years. It is part of an area 800 km (500 mile) long by 200 km (125 mile) wide off Brazil's southern coast that analysts say may contain a massive 80 billion barrels of oil.
