ImageTehran, Iran, Jan. 11 – A planned trip to Iran by a delegation from the Germany's federal Parliament has been put off.

Hamid-Reza Haji-Babaei, a member of the Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Presiding Board and co-chairman of the Iranian-German Parliamentary Friendship Group, announced on Saturday that a visit to Iran by five German Members of Parliament that had been scheduled for this week has been postponed.

The German MPs had been invited by Iran and were due to meet members of the Majlis including the Speaker Ali Larijani as well as officials from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, state media said.

The talks were meant to focus on Iran's economic ties with Germany and the West as well as on the international standoff over Tehran's nuclear program.
