ImageTehran, Iran, June 20 – A bomb exploded on Saturday at the shrine of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, state media said.

Iran’s state broadcaster said that a suicide bomber blew himself up at the mausoleum in south-western Tehran.

At least one person was killed and two people were injured in the attack, it said.

In a report on the incident, CNN said Tehran believes the People’s Mojahedin (PMOI), the main Iranian opposition group, was responsible. It did not cite a source.

The PMOI denied the claim and said: "By attributing this bombing to the PMOI, the Iranian regime is intent on justifying execution and massacre of the Iranian people and provoking the re-listing of the PMOI as a terrorist group. Yesterday, in order to set the stage for such an objective [Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei accused his rivals of paving the way for the terrorists."

The PMOI described the “uprising by the enraged people of Iran against the religious, terrorist dictatorship” as a reflection of the Iranian people's “desire for the overthrow of the anti-human regime in its entirety”.

In another development, on Saturday some 90,000 Iranians rallied near Paris, to declare their support for the PMOI and solidarity with the protestors in Iran.

Iran Focus has received unconfirmed reports that some 150 people have been killed in the course of the government crackdown on protestors in Tehran over the past week. Hospital sources in Tehran said at least 19 people had been killed in the capital on Saturday.
