ImageWASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday if the international community considers additional sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program Russia would be on board.

"I'm very pleased about how supportive the Russians have been in what has become a united international effort," Clinton said in an interview on ABC television's "Good Morning America" while visiting Moscow.

"We remain committed to preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear weapons power. Everybody hopes to succeed, but we're also going to continue to look at the potential of sanctions if we're not successful," Clinton said.

"I believe if sanctions become necessary we will have support from Russia," she said.

Earlier this month at a meeting in Geneva with major powers, Iran agreed to allow U.N. atomic agency inspectors into a newly revealed nuclear site.
