TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A lawyer for the daughter of influential Iranian ex-president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani says she has been freed from jail after serving a six-month sentence on charges of making propaganda against the ruling system.

Faezeh Hashemi was freed from Evin prison Tuesday morning, her lawyer Gholam Ali Riyahi said. His comments were reported by semiofficial Fars news agency late Tuesday.

Rafsanjani is considered a centrist. Since the disputed reelection of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2009, in which Rafsanjani supported Ahmadinejad’s reformist challenger, his family has come under pressure from hardliners.

Last year a court convicted Hashemi and banned her from political activity for five years. Her lawyer said at the time the accusations were related to interviews she gave to news websites.
