Tehran, Iran Focus, 22 May – The security forces have reportedly detained a number of former Preisdent, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani’s campaign staff in the aftermath of his disqualification by the watchdog Guardian Council.
According to these reports, security forces on Tuesday night arrested Mohammad Mohseni and Mohammad Kabiri, active members of Rafsanjani’s campaign team.
Fo’ad Sadeghi, an operator of Baztab and Ayandeh websites, was also arrested after being summoned to prosecutor general’s office.
Other staff members of Rafsanjani’s campaign team have also been summoned by the authorities.
Meanwhile officials have begun filtering or shutting down websites in a bid to make them inaccessible to the public.
Aftab website, close to Hassan Rohani (among the eight candidates approved by the Guardian Council), and the online version of Mardomsalari daily have also become inaccessible. Reports say that the Bahar newspaper’s website has also been filtered and Ayandeh website has not published any new articles in past few days.
