TEHRAN – The death toll of the floods in the Iranian village of Galidagh in the northeastern province of Golestan rose Thursday to 32, with an additonl six people missing.
The Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) quoted the city’s governor Ibrahim Karimi as saying that the rescue teams are still searching for the missing.
He added that the floods destroyed vast areas of agricultural lands and caused the death of large numbers of cattle.
According to the governor, 300 housing units were completely demolished, estimating the financial losses at over USD 25 million.
The region had suffered from floods caused by heavy rain earlier this month, claiming the lives of several citizens and damaging many houses.
