Tehran, Iran, Aug. 15 – Police fought off angry demonstrators on Monday with teargas outside a government ministry in Tehran.

Dozens of protestors had lined up outside the Ministry of Cooperatives to demand their dividends that had not been paid by the bankrupt Rahyan Bang Saba Cooperative.

Demonstrators, who included many women, got more agitated and chanted slogans against the government. Police fired teargas to disperse the crowd. The police action was met with resentment by protestors who carried on with their demonstration. Several demonstrators fainted after the paramilitary policemen charged at them with truncheons.
