The unidentified official was head of a government organisation, the hard-line daily wrote.

Heads of government organisations in Iran are senior officials at the apex of the country’s huge bureaucracy.

“Illegal drugs, empty bottles of liquor, and pornographic CDs were found in the house used by the official”, the daily reported.

The official resigned from his post after being arrested. Jomhouri Islami said that he belonged to the faction of former President Mohammad Khatami.
