Tehran, Iran, Sep. 17 – Iran’s military is fully prepared to face foreign enemies, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of the Staff of the Islamic Republic’s armed forces announced on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said that Iran’s armed forces had been strengthened and that “the strengths and weaknesses of the enemy had been identified”.

“On this basis, strategic planning has been completed and the armed forces have been instructed in this regard”, Firouzabadi said.

“Presently, we have reached a level of preparedness that we can foil any incursion and make the enemy regret an invasion”, the armed forces chief added, in comments apparently directed at the United States, which has not ruled out aerial bombardments of Iran’s nuclear sites which are suspected to be part of a covert atomic weapons program.
