Tehran, Iran, Nov. 14 – Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has appointed one of his nephews as his new security chief, according to state-run media reports on Monday.

The hard-line President who ran his election campaign with the slogan “combating corruption” had declared as he took office that he would avoid appointing family members to government posts.

His nephew was appointed personally by him to the post of Chief of Security for the President.

Ahmadinejad had previously appointed one of his brothers as the Head of Inspections in the Office of the President.
