Tehran, Iran, Apr. 03 – Senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) warned the West on Monday that any attack on Iran would have dire consequences for the aggressors.

Brigadier General Mohammad Hejazi, the commander of the IRGC’s Bassij force, told the government-run news agency Fars that an attack would have “huge costs” for the West.

“Any insecurity would entail huge costs for the creators of the insecurity”, Hejazi said.

“The enemies must be worried about Iran’s military capabilities”, he said.

“Iran’s armed forces have the ability to bring about security [in Iran”> and strike at the security of other aggressive powers”, he added.

“The enemy thought that it could force Iran to retreat from its positions and give up its demands for nuclear technology through psychological warfare, but they saw that not only did Iran not retreat from its positions but also put its readiness on display”, Hejazi said, referring to the weeklong naval war-games being carried out by the IRGC in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

He said that the military manoeuvres had “stunned” Iran’s “enemies”.

Separately, the state-run news agency Mehr quoted the director of propaganda and cultural affairs in the high command of the Armed Forces as saying that the Islamic Republic would not hesitate to give a “decisive” and “tooth-crushing” response to “aggressive enemies”.

Brig. Gen. Alireza Afshar said that Iran’s armed forces would fight “enemies” with a “martyrdom-seeking spirit”.
