Tehran, Iran, Apr. 16 Iran said on Sunday that it would give the Palestinian Authority 50 million dollars in aid.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki announced the contribution, which will go to the Hamas-led government, during a pro-Palestinian conference in Tehran.
The United States and European Union have cut off financial aid to the Palestinian Authority after Hamas won the elections.
The government of Iran has allocated 50 million dollars to help the Palestinian people, Mottaki said in a speech that was partially aired on state television.
The manner of certain governments to freeze aid to the Palestinian people will have no effect on their steadfast will, he said.
Mottaki said giving support to the Palestinians was among the highest priorities of the Islamic Republic.
He added that hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad regarded giving aid to the Palestinian government as a legal duty.
