Tehran, Iran, Aug. 20 – Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met with and briefed the Islamic Republic’s new envoy to Japan on Sunday, the official news agency IRNA reported.

In the meeting with Mohsen Tala’i, Ahmadinejad outlined the guidelines of the new ambassador’s work.

The two men discussed the latest development regarding Tehran-Tokyo ties.

In late 2005, Ahmadinejad recalled 40 of the country’s envoys as part of a purge of the Islamic Republic’s diplomats who did not belong to the ultra-Islamist faction.
