ImageTehran, Iran, Aug. 23 – Iran’s ambassador to Iraq has accused the U.S. and Israel of being responsible for the current unrest in Iraq, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Americans are responsible for these unrests”, said Hassan Kazemi Qomi, who is also a senior commander of the Revolutionary Guards.

"Basically, the Zionist regime [Israel] does not want stability in Iraq, since it is worried about existence of a secure and stable Iraq because of its social and cultural entity", ISNA quoted Kazemi Qomi as saying on Sunday.

Iran has long been accused of fuelling unrest in Iraq through its support both financially and militarily for terrorist entities.

Iraqi police last Tuesday said their forces in Basra seized a rocket launcher with 13 Iranian-made rockets after an attack against a U.S. base outside the southern city.
